Department of Justice announces $2.5 billion in health care fraud recovery in fiscal 2018

On December 21, the Department of Justice announced $2.5 billion in judgments and settlements in fiscal year 2018 from allegations of fraud in the health care industry, including drug and medical device manufacturers, managed care providers, hospitals, pharmacies, hospice organizations, laboratories, and physicians.  According the Press Release, this is the ninth consecutive year that civil health care fraud settlements and judgments have been in excess of $2 billion.  To read the press release, visit  https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/justice-department-recovers-over-28-billion-false-claims-act-cases-fiscal-year-2018.
